This Memorial Day, I cannot thank our soldiers enough who have given their lives for the safety and comfort of our great nation. You and your sacrifice will never be forgotten. Thank you also to all the wives, husbands, mothers, fathers, and children who lost their spouses, children, or parents for the sake of my home. Thank you.

Today I am grateful for my friends. Thank you to all of the wonderful people whom I have had the privilege of calling my friend. Waterman’s Nursery and We Live with Flowers would never exist if it weren’t for the help, feedback, and moral support from each of you. So, what are you grateful for today?

Why am I so grateful? “Begin every day with a grateful heart.” Yeah, we’ve all heard the sappy mantras about choosing happiness. Social media seems to alternate between desperately shallow positive vibes and cruel, soul crushing memes. Considering the kindhearted people who are posting, I think the positivity is well intended and the memes don’t typically intend cruelty, but sometimes I really struggle to understand...

Gardens are planted primarily with hope and a dream for the future. Soil is prepared and enriched, tiny little baby plants are arranged with care. The second year of a garden, it starts to grow. But it is in the third year, the plants reach maturity.  Not every plant from that first season is still there, some plants thrive while there are always a couple...
